Val d'Aran County is made up of the upper valley of the River Garonne, located at the westernmost edge of the Catalan Pyrenees, with Vielha as its capital.

The county has a strong personality and some unique geographic and socio-economic features. It is the only valley in the Catalan Pyrenees with an Atlantic climate; it has its own Aranese language; and 30% of the territory is located at an altitude of over 2000m.

This natural area is ideal for practising all types of sports, including white-water rafting, skiing at Baqueira Beret resort, and hiking through typical mountain villages with their picturesque Romanesque churches.
