Rafting day

Rafting Day, listed as a Traditional Festival of National Interest, has been held in La Pobla de Segur since 1979 to commemorate the ancient river transport trade, formerly very important on the River Noguera Pallaresa.

The festival starts on Saturday morning some five kilometres upriver from the town at La Llania reservoir, where log-rafts are built using the time-honoured techniques of local raftsmen. A programme of rafting-related events is held on Saturday afternoon.

The Traditional Music Gathering is held in the Pallars area on the same dates, with a weekend of concerts, dances, workshops, and other musical activities complementing and alternating with the rafting activities.

The main event, the raft descent on the River Noguera Pallaresa, takes place on Sunday morning.
